I guess this is proof of my naiveté

I have the History Channel on right now -- it's generally my afternoon companion. They've been airing "Nazi America: A Secret History" this afternoon, and I've seen it before, but once again I find myself just amazed, angered and saddened at the hatred some people have for others. Why the Aryan/Nazi followers think white skin is so great, so special, so above any other skin color. Why their religion (term used loosely) is better, more special, more sacred than any other.

I really don't get it. There are people I dislike--but I dislike them for what they say, or their actions.

Of course, I also don't get how people can profess to be religious and believe in peace, god, whatever -- and preach hatred and fear as a way to achieve that.

That can honestly be said about Christians as well - look at all the wars and battles that have waged through the ages because Christians (and yes, others, too) thought their religion was "it."

But yeah. Nazism? Sickens me.

Well, the Nazis claim to be Christian -- at least, the stuff in the documentary I was watching, they were talking about the Aryan Brotherhood being Christian.

But yeah, there's been more blood shed in the name of religion and god (and Christianity in particular) than probably anything else. :(

Which is just so mind boggling to me. "My religion or else!" and just... GAH There's a reason I am NOT.

Not behaving very Christian-like, are they?

*snort* Neither is Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church. And trying to figure out how someone who professes to be a religious person can be so filled with hatred...makes my head hurt.

Yours and mine both, darlin. It only proves that being a "Christian" doesn't make you a GOOD person.

Wow... you should have been in my class tonight! I'm taking a class on immigration in America and the discussion was the investment in 'whiteness' and how the American culture in general is all about forcing ethnic minorities to turn on one another and the importance of being more 'white'. It's been an interesting class... even if it is an entirely depressing way to spend my Tuesday nights.

I definitely need to come home and read some sweet J2 after this! :P

I really dislike those assholes with all my heart and soul. They are a waste of humanity.
