*how* long until spring?

Couldn't sleep last night -- so laid down after Matthew left for school. Woke up about 20 min. ago, checked weather.com and one of the local networks to find out Hardin County is dismissing school two hours early and we're now expecting upwards of TEN INCHES OF SNOW (yesterday they were saying it was going to be *three*).

I know ten doesn't sound like a lot to some of you in areas that routinely get a lot of snow, but believe me when I say that is a fucking LOT of snow for southern Kentucky. We don't get all that much snow, here. 2-3" is considered a lot, generally.

Ugh. Well, on the upside, it's mostly the weekend going to be impacted, and I already told Matthew that if it looks like we're getting a lot of snow the sleep-over is off, because I do NOT want to get stuck with an extra kid all weekend.

Now to take some more advil for the headache that just will not go away. *stab*

Oy! Stay warm!

Thank you :) (And yeah, there's more arctic air coming down, too; temps Sunday are supposed to be in the single digits. UGH.)

ugh. Here in sunny gray and overcast and generally yucky Central CA, *any* snow is like the zombie apocalypse. Stay warm and try not to go bonkers.

Have you laid in a supply of non-perishables and DVDs?

I have milk, powdered milk, bread, bagels, soup, chocolate, diet soda, lots of bottled water and plenty of other stuffs. As for DVDs, well, we have about 1039241024398 of them anyway and honestly? I'm planning to nap :)

I hate winter SO MUCH. (I keep thinking of Jack O'Neill and his comment during the techno-bugs ep, part 2, "have I mentioned my insane aversion to bugs?" substitute 'winter' for 'bugs', and yep. That's me.)

GAH! I know, bb. We're expecting 6-12. Inches. Ridiculous. Everyone is preparing for the city to shut down. Again.

I was surprised they called school off early. To me that speaks of them figuring things will start getting dicey, oh, any time now. Yay. And Matthew was all pouty because I did cancel the sleepover ("can't we have it tonight instead of tomorrow, then?" "No, because the snow is *starting tonight*."), but I told him to deal, Avery can come over next weekend.

I just really don't want to chance ending up with two hyperactive, attention-deficit teenagers ALL WEEKEND, y'know? One is enough on most days!

I think we need to have Stern Words with Mother Nature. Like, right now.

i guess we'll be getting it here, too? the newscasters are making it sound crazy dire... 3 inches, 5 inches, 10? sleet, snow, alien ice spawn? WHO CAN SAY?

[identity profile] mickeym.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. I don't remember alien ice spawn in the forecast...but I haven't checked it in a couple of hours, so anything's possible.

At least no zombies are forecast for now! *g*
