Once it became obvious to me that they wanted to say more than just the bit for the memorial I started wondering how some of those events (the OKC bombing, the events of 9/11, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan in particular) might be viewed by men who lived through one of the "great wars" that were supposed to stop all the rest.
I learned a lot, too, because I think I did almost as much research for this piece as I did for the original. o_O
